When I saw that today was National Button Day, my mind immediately went to the things I press all day on keyboards and other devices. I have, as regular readers know, a history with buttons of the electrical sort. But no. Today is about the little doohickeys we use to keep our clothes together—or just sew onto things for decorative purposes. This holiday was established in 1938 by the National Button Society (yes, it’s a real thing), which promotes researching, collecting, preserving, and otherwise geeking out over buttons. Well, OK then! Let’s button this thing up.
