Having spent most of my childhood in the 1970s, when I see the word “Slinky,” I immediately think of this jingle. And now, with kids of my own, I’ve had to purchase, untangle, and otherwise interact with countless Slinkies, both metal and plastic. Let me just say: it’s a fantastic idea, but even if you’re three, the novelty soon wears off. (And if you happen to live in a house with hardly any stairs, as we do, it’s even less fun.) But!
