A homemade apple pie

We’ve had a number of daily observances related to pie, and we’ll have still more. But today, there’s no cheating! No store-bought pies, no frozen crusts, no sneaky visits to Marie Callender’s. Today, August 1, is Homemade Pie Day, so roll up your sleeves and roll out some dough. It’s not that hard, and it’s a valuable life skill! If you’re in a hurry, you might choose a simple pie with no top crust, such as chocolate cream, lemon meringue, pumpkin, or pecan. If you’re feeling more ambitious, go for a fruit pie with a lattice top. (If you’re making a pie with a solid top crust, don’t forget your pie funnel.) Save me a slice, eh?
