Cherry Clafoutis

I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that today, May 26, is not National Cherry Pie Day. That’s on February 20. (It should really be February 24, the anniversary of Laura Palmer’s death, but I’ll let that slide.) Therefore, although you are morally obligated to consume a cherry dessert today, you can’t consume the obvious cherry dessert. The good news, however is that it’s possible to create other delicious desserts out of cherries. I’d like to put in a hearty recommendation for cherry clafoutis. If that’s just too delicious for you, you are permitted to make a simple cherry cobbler. Cherries Jubilee is also acceptable. And if you believe, as I do, that a dessert course isn’t complete without chocolate in some form, there’s always Black Forest Cake. (Yes, that counts. If the dessert police ask, tell them I said it’s OK.)
