Of all the faux, food-related holidays in the year, this one may be the most dangerous. Apparently the brainchild of Ruth and Tom Roy of Wellcat Holidays, Eat What You Want Day (also sometimes referred to as Cheat Day) is supposedly that day when you ignore your diet, throw caution to the wind, and just eat what makes you happy. (You can run an extra five miles tomorrow to make up for it.) After careful consideration and input from my seven-year-old son, I’ve determined that what I want to eat today is really fancy macaroni and cheese. With ketchup, natch. I, in turn, agree not to judge you about your own choices, unless you eat, like, a kale salad or something, because seriously? You need to live a little.
