Reportedly invented by French chocolatier Louis Dufour in 1895, these delicious treats usually consist of a chocolate ganache center covered in a variety of toppings (cocoa powder, nuts, or chocolate) and derive their name from their resemblance to the fungus kind of truffle. If you’ve been looking for an occasion to snack on some truffles, today would be the day, though since May 2nd is also International Scurvy Awareness Day, you might consider consuming some orange-flavored ones.
