Cocoa, a.k.a. hot chocolate

First things first: the word cocoa has multiple meanings, including the powder you get when you grind up roasted cacao beans and the delicious beverage you get when you mix said powder with milk and sugar, and apply heat. It is the latter sense—namely, hot chocolate, with which we are concerned today. (An aside: it just occurred to me that Johnny Depp has played two different characters with a special affinity for chocolate—Roux in Chocolat, whose favorite kind of chocolate was cocoa, and Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Coincidence? Almost definitely.) In any case, it’s National Cocoa Day! Just the thing if you need a convenient liquid surface for all those mini marshmallows to float on. No marshmallows? Whipped cream makes an excellent substitute!
