
On Transgender Day of Remembrance, we remember those who were killed in acts of anti-transgender violence. This day was chosen because it’s the date on which Rita Hester was murdered in Boston in 1998. It’s hard for me to comprehend that even 20 years later, some people still think that the right way to react toward folks they don’t understand or identify with is to kill them. No one should have to give their life because of their gender identity. But today, we remember those who have.
