The United Nations officially began on October 24, 1945, and since 1948, this date has been celebrated as United Nations Day. The U.N., of course, exists to promote cooperation among its member nations, which currently number 193. Some of these nations (I’m looking at you, USA and Russia) have been distinctly less cooperative in recent years, but in any case, the U.N. does fine work—both politically and culturally. In honor of this day, go do something…international, I guess? You can interpret that however you like.
