Bacon slices

I had a tough choice to make today. I could have written about Cupcake Day, which is also celebrated today, because cupcakes are wonderful. And less than two weeks from now (on September 1), it’ll be International Bacon Day, which of course I also plan to observe. And there’s widespread disagreement over whether August 20 is National Bacon Lovers, Lover’s, or Lovers’ Day. Nevertheless, upon deep personal reflection, and after having a couple of slices of bacon to stimulate my thought process, I decided I had to go with my gut, by which I mean my stomach. Wait, no, my heart. Sure, let’s go with heart. If you love bacon—and I know I do—there’s no day like today to enjoy your favorite pork product. You might even consider joining the United Church of Bacon, which isn’t really about bacon but is still an excellent organization. (Yes, it’s a real thing. Yes, I’m a member. Praise bacon.)
