You haven’t had enough ice cream this month. So eat a hot fudge sundae today, even though it’s Wednesday, because that is the right thing to do on National Hot Fudge Sundae Day. Technically, you could put a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a bowl, drizzle on some hot (well, warm) chocolate fudge and call it a day. But that would be a boring sundae. For a sundae that isn’t boring, start with a generously proportioned sundae dish, add a couple of scoops of really good ice cream, then an unhealthy quantity of hot fudge followed by chopped nuts, whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry. (Additional toppings are optional but recommended.) And don’t let anyone tell you that the ice cream has to be vanilla. It can be anything you want, and remember that there is no such thing as too much chocolate.
