Apple turnovers are delicious pastries made by putting apple pie filling onto squares of puff pastry, folding them over into a triangle shape and pressing them closed, then baking them. They’re reasonably easy to make, but easier to buy. (If you’re in France, the nearest analog is the chausson aux pommes, of which I’ve consumed many.) July 5 is Apple Turnover Day, so if you need a break from donuts and croissants, today’s the day to give apple turnovers a turn.
